Cardigan Edges Made EASY: All the tricks for successful button-up sweaters
Saturday, November 4, 2023 • 9 am to 1:30 pm, with ½ hour break.

Ever notice how your eye goes right to the button-band on a cardigan? And if it is not perfect, that’s all you can see? No matter how gorgeous a sweater is, no matter how wonderful the knitted fabric, a poorly applied cardigan or polo button-band can ruin the whole effect!

Have you seen gaping bands, slack buttonholes, edges that won’t lie flat, buttons that pull through their holes? These are just some of the issues that can be easily corrected when you understand how to approach and succeed at applying the details of a cardigan’s front edges.

Learn all about:

  • How to pick up stitches properly for your front edges

  • Getting both sides of the front edges to match each other

  • Different buttonholes for different closures and effects

  • What is the best button?

  • Sewing on buttons in the easiest way!

  • How to attach different kinds of buttons—sew-through holes as well as novelty buttons, like toggles

  • The easiest way to sew on any number of buttons

  • How to make the wrong of your front bands look as nice as the right side! (so when your cardigan opens, it looks great!)

  • How to make changes in a pattern—edges of your choice!

I have been designing beautiful cardigans for over 30 years, and loves to make her edges look perfect! Let me share my secrets for cardigan success with you.
